The fifth MORE TEN-T network workshop: “Fostering modal shift for passenger journeys, initiatives for reducing pressure on the TEN-T road network and corridor roads” took place as an online session on 13 December 2021.
As part of a series of workshops aimed at discussing common challenges of cities located on EU TEN-T corridors, this online event brought together representatives of key stakeholder organizations from the rail and waterborne passenger transport sector to share experiences and discuss two questions:
- How fostering a modal shift for international/national passenger journeys can contribute to:meeting modal shift targets within cities/urban nodes?
- How can the European road network better adapt and redefine its long-term role following such a modal shift?
The event also discussed the topic of decarbonising tourism along the TEN-T road network, bringing together representatives of key stakeholder organisations, who have been working on initiatives aimed at fostering more sustainable ways to travel across the TEN-T network and corridor roads.
